The Louisville Bats won their home opener on April 11 8-5. It was a high-scoring game, and so fun for those of us who know little about baseball -- who do not spend the game listing hits, errors, and other esoteric statistics. The team will be in town all of the coming week, playing against the Pawtucket Red Sox from Friday April 11 to Monday, and then playing the Norfolk Tides through Friday, April 18. (See schedule).
The team, a farm team for the Cincinnati Reds, and the field itself are a wonderful part of Louisville – particularly in the spring. (In the heat of the summer, I’m not as big of a fan of outdoor spectator sports.) That said, I would suggest anyone visiting Louisville during baseball reason take an afternoon or an evening to attend a game. I honestly don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house. There’s a merry-go-round and other attractions to keep the kids happy, and a microbrewery just outside (Brownings) that you can enjoy before or after the game.
These are a couple shots of the game and the field that I took last night.
